Mystics soar over the chicago sky

Ladies and gentlemen, a round of applause for your Washington Mystics and the show they put on Tuesday night, soaring over the Chicago Sky 103–86. Watching the mystics in pregameshoot around, you could feel the energy was different. The teamfed off good ball movement and active hands-on defense that ledto early fast break points in transition. Sonia Citron closed the first quarter with seven straight points, helping Washington grab a 30–27 lead going into the second quarter. Then after the half the Mystics much improved defense turned it up a notch andstarted having some fun out there.
One of the players having the most fun was Sonia Citron. Citronplayed lights out, sharply shooting 5-of-6 from three. Citron was playing with confidence finishing 10-15 from the field with a career-high 28 points. Kiki Iriafen was also lighting up the score board, dropping 22 points and pulling down 10 boards for another double-double. While Brittney Sykes also showed up big in the third quarter, finishing with 18 points and keeping the tempo high on both ends. It’s crazy how quickly these three are making their mark. They looked comfortable, locked in, and like they belong.
This a great team win, not just because of the score, but because of how the team played together. The ball movement was crisp 25 assists on 36 made shots and you could see the chemistry gradually building. The Mystics now sit at 13–13, and if this young core keeps playing like this, they’re going to be a problem down the stretch. The Mystics are looking like a formative team, specially with Citron, Kiki, and Sykes leading the way, this team is starting to believe, and you can feel that belief growing with every victory.
